MCP Presents and Rivertown Entertainment have teamed up to produce a revolutionary event. The Echo Project is not only a progressive Music and Arts Festival, but it has the focus to make sure that we have a positive impact on the environment.
Every aspect of the event was a great success! We had a few hitches. The weather did not cooperate fully, with lows in the 40's at night, and an all time record low in rainfall for the year led to dust that proved to be an issue for everyone. Despite the weather not cooperating fully, the people sure did! It seemed as if everyone had a good time there. There were no issues at all worth mentioning, and every band went off without a hitch (even Common, with his more than fashionably late arrival.) The Echo System proved to be a hit with morning Yoga sessions, numerous educational workshops, documentary's, and discussions, as well as many non-profit groups sharing their information on a wide array of environmental topics.
We tried to impact the environment as little as possible by reducing the amount of CO2 we produced during the event by using alternative energy sources, as well as a general mindset of minimalism. The carbon emissions we did create we off set by purchasing alternative energy credits as well as planting trees that will be converting CO2 into O2 for the duration of their lives. All materials used by food vendors were made from Recycled, Recyclable, or Biodegradable materials. This reduced the waste impact crated by the event, as well as providing for recycling programs sponsored by The Echo Project.
We focused on teaching the attendees how they could take numerous environmental ideas back to their normal lives, and hopefully help to shape the future of the world. We feel like all of these programs were a great success and hope to continue their success in the future.
